Voluntary contribution funds Individual voluntary contributions

Overview

A voluntary contribution is an election you make on your tax return to donate to charitable funds.

If you contribute, you can use:

  • Your own funds (payments and credits) in excess of tax liability
  • All or part of your refund
  • Submit a payment by check or credit card if you’re not due a refund or the refund is not sufficient to pay the amount you designate
