Multi-factor authentication for MyFTB Public Service Bulletin

Purpose of bulletin
To inform the public that MyFTB will implement multi-factor authentication for MyFTB accounts.
Background
FTB will enhance security measures by implementing multi-factor authentication effective July 13, 2024. Multi-factor authentication will replace security questions by sending a verification code to the taxpayer’s phone number via text or voice call.
Additional information
New and existing MyFTB account holders will be required to provide and verify a phone number. After a phone number has been verified, the account holder will be required to input the verification code sent to the phone number every time they log in, unless they are logging in from a device for which the account holder had previously selected the “remember me” option.
Once the account holder has logged into their MyFTB Account, they will have the ability to update and add an alternate phone number.
