Public Safety Power Shutoffs may affect taxpayers

Taxpayers impacted by the October 2019 Public Safety Power Shutoffs may be eligible for penalty relief. They may receive relief if they:

• Filed a tax return after the October 15, 2019 extended-filing deadline due to the power shutoffs AND
• Received late filing penalties

They can request penalty abatement (removal) if they can show reasonable cause. Review Reasonable cause to request penalty abatement or for more information.
