Let’s ensure all Californians are counted!
Here at the Franchise Tax Board, we are doing our part to support the 2020 Census.
Every 10 years, people across the country and in California fill out their Census questionnaires in order to provide an accurate count of all people in the United States.
The Census determines California’s federal funding for important community services that help support our families and ensures our fair share of representation in California and Washington, D.C.
For each person not counted, communities will lose on average of $1,000 per person, per year, for 10 years.
Starting in mid-March, households will receive a postcard letting them know it’s time to go online and fill out a Census questionnaire. You can also complete the Census over the phone, or by paper form, which will be mailed to households who have not yet completed their questionnaire. Be sure you include every person living in your household, family or not, and children of all ages. The information you provide is private, secure, and critically important.
