Golden State Stimulus

The Golden State Stimulus I & II programs are complete and no more payments are being issued. No new GSS payments have been issued since July 15, 2022.

California provided the Golden State Stimulus to families and individuals who qualified. This was a stimulus payment for certain people that filed their 2020 tax returns. The Golden State Stimulus aimed to:

  • Support low and middle income Californians
  • Help those facing a hardship due to COVID-19

GSS program results

GSS I 4.6 million $2.8 billion
GSS II 8.3 million $6 billion
Combined GSS I and GSS II programs delivered 12.9 million $8.8 billion
